Workshop on “The Bubble of AI in Medical Education: Between Hype, Hope, and Humanism” As part of the Faculty Development Program, the Department of Medical Education, Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, Lahore, conducted an enlightening workshop titled “The Bubble of AI in Medical Education: Between Hype, Hope, and Humanism” on October 29, 2025, at the Conference Room, Lahore General Hospital. The session was held under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, Principal PGMI/AMC/LGH and Head of Surgery Department, LGH, who has been a driving force behind the institution’s academic advancement and innovation in medical education. Renowned facilitators Dr. Noor-i-Kiran (Consultant Gynaecologist & Associate Professor, Medical Education Department, ABWA Medical College) and Prof. Rehan Ahmed (Head of Surgery, Islamic International Medical College, Riphah University & Dean, Riphah Institute of Assessment) led thought-provoking sessions exploring the potential, promises, and ethical challenges of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into modern medical education. They discussed the transformative possibilities AI offers for personalized learning, assessment, and decision support, while emphasizing the importance of preserving empathy, ethics, and human connection in teaching and patient care. The workshop provided participants with practical insights into leveraging AI responsibly for effective curriculum design, student engagement, and faculty development. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal highlighted the evolving landscape of medical education and the delicate balance between technology and humanity: Artificial Intelligence can revolutionize learning, but it can never replace the wisdom, empathy, and compassion that define great teachers and clinicians. At Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, we embrace innovation while upholding the human spirit that lies at the heart of medicine.” The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where faculty members shared their perspectives on AI adoption, assessment strategies, and the future of human-AI collaboration in medical teaching. The event was coordinated by prof. Dr. Amna Ahsan Cheema, Dr. Saira Fayyaz (Associate Professor) and Dr. Natasha Usman (Assistant Professor), Department of Medical Education, AMC. The session was part of an ongoing series aimed at empowering faculty through capacity-building initiatives under the Faculty Development Program — “Empowering Faculty, Enriching Futures.”
