Faculty Development Program Workshop on “Effective Teaching & Learning Strategies” Empowering Faculty • Enriching Futures • Transforming Medical Education As part of the ongoing Faculty Development Program, a highly interactive workshop on Effective Teaching & Learning Strategies was successfully conducted by the Department of Medical Education, Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, Lahore. The session aimed to strengthen innovative teaching practices and foster transformative learning environments in medical education. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, Principal PGMI/AMC/LGH & Head, Department of Surgery, Lahore General Hospital, who emphasized that: “Faculty development is the cornerstone of institutional progress. By investing in our teachers, we ensure that every student receives education that inspires excellence and compassion in patient care.” Renowned facilitators Prof. Dr. Asghar Naqi, Registrar & Professor of Surgery, King Edward Medical University, and Prof. Dr. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Professor of Surgery, King Edward Medical University, led the sessions through engaging discussions, interactive reflections, and evidence-based approaches to modern teaching. Prof. Dr. Asghar Naqi highlighted: “Effective teaching is not about delivering information but about inspiring curiosity and fostering lifelong learning among students.” Prof. Dr. Abrar Ashraf Ali added: “Transformative education requires passion, adaptability, and empathy — qualities that every teacher must continuously nurture.” The workshop proved highly beneficial in enhancing the faculty’s pedagogical insight, promoting evidence-based education, and enriching the academic culture at AMC/PGMI/LGH.
