Pre-Conference Workshop of International Conference of Pakistan Association of Pathologists (PAP) Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) We are delighted to report that the pre-conference workshop on “Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT): Principles, Practice & Mutation Detection” was a resounding success on October 6, 2025. The event, held at the Central Research Laboratory, Lahore General Hospital, brought together experts, faculty members, and participants from the field of pathology. The workshop was expertly facilitated by Dr. Ghazala Rubi, and prof. Dr. Nudrat Sohail who provided in-depth insights into the principles and practice of NIPT. The session offered a comprehensive overview of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing, including its underlying principles, laboratory techniques, and methods for mutation detection. Participants also gained valuable hands-on experience with NIPT using Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH), enabling them to translate theoretical knowledge into practical application. On this occasion, Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and emphasized the significance of such academic initiatives in advancing diagnostic excellence. He remarked that “emerging molecular techniques like NIPT are revolutionizing prenatal diagnostics by enabling early, accurate, and non-invasive detection of genetic conditions — an advancement that holds immense promise for the future of maternal and fetal healthcare in Pakistan.” The workshop was attended by several senior faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahid, Prof. Dr. Nazish Saqlain, Prof. Dr. Farhan, Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain (MS LGH), Prof. Dr. Amna Javed, and Prof. Dr. Amna Ahsan, whose presence added great academic value to the event. The event concluded with a tea and snacks session, followed by the distribution of certificates among participants. We are grateful to all the participants and facilitators whose dedication and contributions ensured the success of this educational and skill-enhancing workshop.
