World Atopic Eczema Day – Awareness Walk 18th September 2025 An Awareness Walk was organized by the Dermatology Department, Lahore General Hospital, Lahore on the occasion of World Atopic Eczema Day on 18th September 2025. The walk was led by Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal (Principal, AMC/PGMI/LGH) and Prof. Dr. Atif Shehzad (Head, Department of Dermatology), prof Nudrat sohail HOD OBGYN along with Dr. Faryad Hussain (Medical Superintendent, LGH). Faculty members including Dr. Wajieha Saeed (Associate Professor), Dr. Saadia Siddiqui (Assistant Professor), Dr. Eima Shaheen (Senior Registrar) Dr. Ayesha qamar and consultant dermatologists Dr. Samreen Rafi, Dr. Shaiqa Ali, Dr. Farhana Nazir, Dr. Hina Manzoor, Dr. Ahmed Kazmi, and Dr. Ummara Siddique, Dr. Uzma mirza, Dr. Sobia Ali, Dr. Nida elly also participated. The event highlighted that atopic eczema is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease, caused by genetic and environmental factors. It is characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed rashes, which may affect people of all ages and flare up throughout life. Awareness messages included: Risk factors: family history of atopy, asthma, hay fever Triggers: stress, food allergies, jewelry, medications Management: moisturizers, comfortable clothing, wet dressings, light therapy, counseling, and newer topical/systemic medications The walk successfully promoted awareness regarding prevention and timely management of atopic eczema among the public and medical community.
