The Epistaxis Workshop was conducted to enhance undergraduate students’ understanding and practical skills in managing nasal bleeding, one of the most common ENT emergencies. The session began with an overview of epistaxis, its classification into anterior and posterior types, and the common local and systemic causes. Key nasal vascular anatomy, including Kiesselbach’s and Woodruff’s plexuses, was reviewed for clinical relevance. Students were introduced to the systematic assessment of patients, with emphasis on airway, breathing, and circulation (ABC), followed by initial first-aid measures and proper patient positioning. Hands-on demonstrations included anterior nasal packing techniques, while indications for posterior packing and cauterization were highlighted. Surgical and endoscopic management options were also discussed briefly. The event concluded with case-based discussions and an interactive Q&A session, ensuring active student participation. The workshop successfully bridged theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students to manage epistaxis confidently in clinical settings. Prof. Farooq Afzal, Principal of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, remarked: “Epistaxis is among the most frequent ENT emergencies encountered in both outpatient and emergency settings. Prompt recognition and timely intervention are crucial, as effective management can often prevent serious complications and even save lives. Workshops like these provide young doctors with the essential hands-on training required to deal with real clinical challenges with confidence.” The Guest Speaker, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, delivered an insightful talk on advances in the management of epistaxis, further enriching the academic value of the workshop. The entire event was organized by the ENT Department under the supervision of Dr. Ilyas Sab and Dr. Aamer Ayub Sab, and was successfully conducted today by the ENT Department.
