Central Sterile & Supply Department (CSSD)
Introduction
The Central Sterile & Supply Department is the heart of the sterilization activities carried out at Lahore General Hospital. It provides & supplies sterilize equipments, linen and other items use for operations & sterile procedures.It recieves, checks and cleans the instruments and maintain inventory. It monitors and ensures sterility necessory to prevent cross infection control policy and cross maintain inventory. It maintains record of all cycles and thier sterility indicators daily.
It is a centerlized department which is connected with operation rooms as well as wards of the organization.
CSSD has seperate three zones as following:
- Soiled Zone
- Clean Zone
- Sterile Storage Zone
These zones have adequate space in hospital which are separated by physical barriars and also have one way workflow.
